Write for Us

If you enjoy breaking down modern words and internet terms, we would love to publish your work. This “write for us” page covers everything you need to know about our pitch process and content guidelines. Our team aims to give readers clean, accurate answers whenever they visit our site. We look for submissions that are factual, well-organized, and easy to read. Take a look at our process below and send us your topic idea.

What We Publish

MeansAura clarifies words people look up when they feel uncertain. A guest post can address any of these topics.

  • Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang, including authentic origins and usage examples.
  • The actual abbreviations, acronyms, and texting language that people really use.
  • Idioms, phrasal verbs, and similar-looking words that often confuse English learners.
  • The jargon for the workplace explained in plain English, without the buzzwords.
  • The histories of words and language trends you should learn from reputable references.
  • We also accept high-quality content in a variety of other categories, including Business, Education, IT & Technology, SaaS, Health, Finance, Travel, and General topics, subject to our editorial guidelines.

Pitches may focus on a single term or offer a more extensive guide, given what suits your concept. Since readers seek quick answers, each pitch should begin with the definition before providing any background information.

The Aura Check: Our Submission Criteria

All pitches are compared to these before we give a response. The list below is all you need to match a vibe with MeansAura, and if you do, we would love to welcome a guest post.

  • The original work has not been uploaded to any website, blog, or other social media.
  • 800 to 1500 words approximately, under clear headings and short paragraphs.
  • Written in American English, using a friendly, energetic, and direct voice without unnecessary fluff.
  • We have subject matter expertise, so we don’t copy and paste guff text to increase the word count.
  • Facts, dates, and definitions with citations have been provided from trusted sources, Oxford and Merriam-Webster.
  • We guarantee 0% plagiarism and do not leave any auto-generated content, as there is not a single draft that we do not scan.

Follow these tips, and you’ll be fast-tracking your way to a yes. Our guest posting guidelines are in place to protect readers, not to make things difficult for writers.

Writing And Formatting Rules

Good posts follow the same structure as every MeansAura entry.

  • Define the term in simple English, followed by its origin and usage.
  • Quote two sentences from the real world that contain the word.
  • Give any necessary comment on the word if it is considered offensive, sexual, or ambiguous.
  • Use headings, paragraphs, and bullets wherever required and appropriate.
  • No images without copyright and proper attribution.

Link And Author Bio Policy

Google is willing to accept articles that bring value to the reader, but labels articles crafted for scaling link builds as spam. Here are the guidelines below regarding links and author bios that you must know before submitting your work.

  1. Your author bio can include one link to your website or social profile.
  2. Potentially two links within the piece could be sources we consider trustworthy and related.
  3. Advertising links are nofollow or sponsored links, based on Google’s guidance for links.
  4. No keyword-laden anchor text, affiliate links, or paid placements.
  5. Please keep your bio under 50 words, with a headshot if you want one.
  6. On every guest post, a link to a dictionary entry beats a link to a sales page any day.

What We Don’t Accept

We reject posts that contain any material about: gambling; adult content; crypto advertising; loans; and drugs. We also reject posts that contain any hateful content, clickbait articles, or parts of articles that have been copied, or that are going to be used solely as an advertisement.

How To Submit Your Pitch

Please tell us your idea first, before you prepare a finished article. We’ll try to get back to you within 7 working days of you submitting a guest post pitch. We provide a deadline for accepted submissions, which we then edit for clarity, precision, and style.

  • Email admin@meansaura.com with the subject Pitch + working title.
  • Update sharing 3-5 bullet points and the resources you’ll leverage.
  • Please provide a link to two samples of published work, or submit one writing sample that is no longer than a page.
  • Add a very brief bio and verify that this is an unpublished draft.

You still own your work and agree to let us publish it on each MeansAura site. But we might edit or even delete your posts in the future if the facts change or links become broken.
